Yashoda Girls’ Arts & Commerce College, Sneh Nagar, Nagpur, was founded on August 1, 1992 by Purushottam Khaparde Health & Education Society, Nagpur. The institution was established by the great motivator Hon. Saroj Khaparde, Former Union Minister & Secretary, Purushottam Khaparde Health & Education Society, Nagpur who initiated to provide higher education especially to the girls coming from financially weaker and educationally deprived rural background in and around Nagpur.
The College is a grant-in-aid institution, affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. It has been recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC, New Delhi. The institution runs Undergraduate courses in Arts & Commerce (B.A. & B.Com) and Junior College in Arts faculty as well. From its inception in 1992, the mission of the college has always been commitment to women’s education, which is apparent to be the means for both personal and societal transformation. The vision is to promote holistic policy of education and imparting higher education especially to the girls coming from financially weaker and educationally deprived sections of the society and every aspirant in general, making them competent. The college management is committed to creating an atmosphere in which the passion for learning prospers and students are trained not only academically but also to be women of confidence and principles. All programs are student-centric, providing moderate opportunity for the development of leadership and self-assurance. The college was first accredited by NAAC in 2017 with a ‘B++’ grade. In 2023, it was reaccredited by maintain its NAAC with a ‘B++’ grade. The goals of the college are revised periodically; we keep pace with changing needs. The College is fortunate in having a highly qualified and motivated teaching faculty, many of whom are actively engaged either in research work or in extension activities. The committed supporting staff is an additional enabling aspect of Yashoda Girls’ College culture. The premise has good quality infrastructural facilities, well-equipped Home-Economics Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Library is well functioning as a Knowledge Resource Centre, almost all the classrooms are roof-mounted LCD projectors and the availability of good academic and physical infrastructure like College Canteen, Sports Facility, and NSS for extension activities are some of the basic elements of the institution. Our students actively participate and engage with many opportunities which are offered, so that they can develop into self-confident, responsible, ethical, and compassionate human beings.
